Blackpool Tiggers started in 2004 as a trampolining group for 8 children on the autistic spectrum. It has expanded to offer services for more than 100 local families affected by Autism and has inspired groups in Rossendale, Preston, Lancaster, Fleetwood and Bolton.
Tigger groups are self managed with support from the committee and volunteers. In Blackpool there is now Trampolining, Martial Arts, Music Tiggers and an extensive holiday activity programme, including weekends away.
The group is managed by a parent led committee and staffed by volunteers, all of who are vetted and given training using our own custom designed courses and sponsored to gain externally recognised qualifications.
Blackpool Tiggers owns the Community Interest Company, MyTownTiggers. This is a Social Enterprise in Health. Anyone wanting to begin a Tiggers group in their local area will receive an enthusiastic welcome and support from us including advice on funding, volunteers, training, activities etc. We are also able to offer trampolining and training services. Please note these services are provided at commercial rates and all surplus's are fed back into the community.
In March 2007 we moved to Park Road and this space acts as our administrative headquarters, a resource centre for parents and families and a meeting place. This is temporary accommodation and we are actively searching for a secure base.
